Pathways to Success in the Middle Years Term Four Webinar Series

Online Professional Learning for all educators of students aged 10 - 15 years.

We know that the Middle Years is a critical phase in the development of our young adolescents, and as such, we advocate for educators of this age group who are:

Dedicated; Empathetic; Relational; Knowledgeable; and Passionate.

Our next part in our series of online webinars focuses on key elements of our position paper, and will provide leaders and teachers opportunities to enhance their knowledge, understanding and skills for learning and teaching in the middle years. Each webinar will be led by an expert in their field, with a mix of academics, consultants and 'on the ground' practitioners sharing their expertise and experience of working in and with the middle years.

Term 4 Webinars are now live!

Each online session is facilitated by an experienced middle years educator. In each session, you will learn a little more about the theory behind the topic and walk away with practical strategies you can implement in your next lesson.
  • Accessible online via Microsoft Teams - 3.30pm-5pm AEST
  • $50 per session members / $65 per session for non-members.

Session Four with Sue Webb: Pathways to Success - The Path Less Travelled

POSTPONED - new date TBA

This webinar asks at its core, “Am I becoming the teacher I want to be?” How can middle years educators deliver on their goals and objectives and remain focused on the core purpose of their work – connecting with teenagers? Through the lens of sustainability this webinar looks at the protective factors teachers and school leaders can use to minimise the risks associated with workplace stress, avoid energy deficit, and optimise their capacity both as professionals, and as people. It offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on your teacher-story so far, and the chapter you decide to write next.

Presenter: Sue Webb is a freelance educator and consultant, author, optimist, and passionate facilitator for sustainable work practices in all areas of education. When she’s not in the classroom, Sue speaks with teachers and school leaders about working with balance so that we don’t tip into depletion. She holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership, was a finalist in the teaching excellence awards for her work in mentoring, is assistant editor for the Australian Journal of Middle Schooling, and always does webinars with a coffee – so bring yours!

Session Five with Jasmine Kelly: Emotions in the classroom – a guide to grounding techniques

Jasmine will also take you through practical and evidence based techniques that you will be able to utilise with individual students or your whole classroom.

Presenter: Jasmine Kelly is a registered psychologist and AHPRA Board approved supervisor with over a decade's experience in psychology services and education. Including 6 years as a Guidance Counsellor in a large co-ed high school with both mainstream students and a large cohort of students with additional needs.
